Is the Church of England, or your denomination, an apostate sinking ship or part of the bruised and battered beautiful bride of Christ?
When the ark of the covenant had been taken by the uncircumcised Philistines, the widowed wife of the priest Phineas gave birth to a son, and she named him Icabod, saying: ‘The glory is departed from Israel’ (1 Sam 4:21). the question may well be asked whether today the glory has not departed from the Church. It would seem that Ichabod had better be chiseled over its gates. And yet, unbelievable as it may seem, applicable to the church of all ages, also of this age, is the exultation of the Psalmist: ‘The lord loveth the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob. glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God (Psalm 87:2-3)’ —- Kuiper, 1966, The Glorious Body of Christ
